Wednesday - Casper has fledged!
Correction - Marla is the one who was on the window sill at the end of the day yesterday. As of 6AM she had fallen from the sill into a balcony one level below and is trying to get out. A rescue was contemplated but given a) she's fiesty and does not appear injured b) she nearly bit my nose off and c) the MNR's advice, she's being left alone in the hopes that she gets herself up and out. If she's not out this afternoon alternate arrangements will be made.
8AM - Marla has made her way up to the ledge of the balcony, Byron is making leisurely flights and Casper is contemplating things.
1030AM - Casper had a long flight around the south side of the building and thanks to residents calling in, we've located him looking good on a west side balcony. Marla made her way back near to the nest ledge and is resting there.
845PM - Marla and Byron are making trips between the opposing ledges near the nest. Casper has remained at the same balcony he landed on after his first flight this morning. He is alert and his wings and facial area appear normal. All afternoon he tried to muster the courage to fly (in between naps), to no avail.
Residents - We could use help covering the watch Thursday, if you have any free time please consider coming out to help.
