Jul 2, 2009 - Secret rendezvous?

Some exciting activity unfolded this evening. Strange falcon calls were heard at the south end of the complex. They sounded very similar to the courtship "eee-chup eee-chup" sounds we relish hearing in the early spring.

A quick look revealed Mom and the visiting adult both flying into, then having some sort of unseen discussion on one of the ledges. It went on literally for minutes, and didn't sound normal by any means, which raised some concern. The visiting adult eventually peered out from the ledge, looked around for a while and flew off. While this visitor was looking out, Mom continued to do some sort very odd vocalizing from within the ledge, not normal at all.

Afterwards, Mom was not spotted for at least 1/2 hour and there was concern for her at that point, as she wasn't seen leaving the ledge. A brief visit to the roof turned out to be a relief, Mom was soon making alarm calls and flying past, clearly doing just fine, so all appears well again. Storms are now rolling in, 645PM.
